When things go wrong, make it useful.
Turn failed jobs into actionable information, with a simple approach to error handling and recovery.
Classify the failure
A temporary network failure, rejected credential and invalid record need different responses. Classify them before deciding whether to retry, stop or ask someone to review the event.
Give alerts context
Include the workflow name, a safe record reference and the failed operation. Link to the job where possible, and explain the next action. Avoid copying entire payloads into chat or email.
Design recovery alongside the happy path
Keep an audit trail of what completed before an error. Use idempotent writes and a reconciliation process so a replay does not create duplicate business records. Test your recovery instructions with someone who did not build the recipe.
